SyncLeetX – Privacy Policy

Overview

SyncLeetX is a Chrome extension that helps you track your coding progress across LeetCode and GeeksforGeeks, sync your accepted solutions to your own GitHub repository, and manage structured DSA sheets with streaks, goals, notes, and pattern guidance.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and where it is stored.

✅ We do not operate any server. All data stays on your device or goes directly to services you own (GitHub).

Data We Access

1. LeetCode Data

What: Your LeetCode username and problem-solve statistics (Easy / Medium / Hard counts, recent solved problems)
How: Read from LeetCode's GraphQL API using your active session cookie, which is already present in your browser when you are logged in
Why: To display your real-time solve counts, difficulty breakdown, and progress in the extension popup
Stored: Stats are cached locally in your browser. They are never sent to any third-party server

2. GeeksforGeeks Data

What: Your GFG username and problem-solve statistics (School / Basic / Easy / Medium / Hard counts)
How: The extension reads your gfguserName browser cookie (set by GeeksforGeeks when you log in) to identify your account, then fetches your stats from the GFG practice API
Why: To display your GFG solve counts and difficulty breakdown in the extension popup
Stored: Stats are cached locally in your browser. The cookie is read-only and never modified or shared

3. GitHub Credentials (Optional)

What: Your GitHub username, target repository name, and a Personal Access Token (PAT) that you provide
How: You manually enter these in the extension Settings. They are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure local storage API
Why: To push your accepted solutions directly to your own GitHub repository via the official GitHub REST API
Stored: Credentials are stored only on your local device and are never transmitted to anyone other than GitHub's official API (api.github.com)

4. Locally Stored Data

Solved problem URLs and solve history
Personal notes and revision links per problem
Streak data, daily goal settings, and badge progress
Active sheet selection and widget preferences
Uploaded custom PDF sheet contents
Skipped problem list

All of the above is stored exclusively in your browser using Chrome's storage.local API. None of it is transmitted to any server operated by SyncLeetX.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information
We do not operate any backend server or database
We do not transmit your data to any third party
We do not track your browsing history or activity
We do not use any analytics or telemetry tools
We do not display any advertisements
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone

✅ The only external services this extension communicates with are LeetCode's API, GeeksforGeeks' API, and GitHub's API — all on your behalf, using your own credentials.

Permissions Explained

Every permission this extension requests is strictly necessary for its core functionality. Here is what each one is used for:

activeTab Detects which supported platform (LeetCode, GeeksforGeeks, Striver's A2Z, Apna College) you are currently on, so the extension can display relevant sheet progress and communicate with the floating widget on that page.

scripting Injects the floating on-page widget into supported DSA platforms so you can track sheet progress, mark problems as solved, and jump to your next unsolved problem without leaving the page.

storage Saves your solved problems, notes, streaks, daily goals, badge progress, GitHub credentials, and preferences locally on your device. No data leaves your browser through this permission.

unlimitedStorage Required because users can upload custom PDF sheets, and large built-in sheet data combined with solve history exceeds the standard 5MB storage quota. This ensures no data loss for power users.

cookies Read-only access to the LeetCode session cookie (to authenticate GraphQL stat requests) and the GeeksforGeeks username cookie (to identify your GFG account). No cookies are written, modified, or shared.

host permissions Required to inject the floating widget and fetch stats on: leetcode.com, geeksforgeeks.org, practiceapi.geeksforgeeks.org, takeuforward.org, dsa.apnacollege.in, and api.github.com (for GitHub sync).

Data Security

All sensitive data (GitHub Personal Access Token) is stored locally in your browser only
All API communications use HTTPS exclusively
The extension contains no remote code — every script is bundled inside the extension package itself
No data is ever transmitted to servers operated by SyncLeetX

External API calls are made only to:

LeetCode GraphQL API — to fetch your solve statistics
GeeksforGeeks Practice API — to fetch your solve statistics
GitHub REST API — only if you enable GitHub sync, to push solutions to your own repository

Your Control

You can view and clear all locally stored data at any time via Chrome Settings → Extensions → SyncLeetX → Storage
You can disconnect GitHub sync at any time by clearing the GitHub token in Settings
You can disable or remove the extension entirely at any time from Chrome's Extensions page
Removing the extension permanently deletes all locally stored data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension's features or applicable regulations. Any material changes will be communicated through the Chrome Web Store extension update notes. Continued use of the extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
